Description:

When the wireless communication system is working, the power amplifier is increased, and when multiple channels are working, nonlinear distortion will produce second harmonics, third harmonics, third-order inter-modulation (IMD3), and fifth-order inter-modulation (IMD5). This nonlinear distortion will lead to a series of transmitter antenna performance indicators such as beam width, side lobe suppression, and null depth deteriorating. In addition, the high peak-to-average ratio characteristics of various modern high-efficiency spectrum modulation signals (such as OFDM and CDMA) make the nonlinear distortion of the power amplifier working near the saturation point more serious.

There are currently three ways to solve the problem of power amplifier linearity: power back-off technology, analog pre-distortion, and digital pre-distortion. Digital pre-distortion has high technical content, the best effect, and the best performance, and is currently the main method we use. The broadband characteristics of DPD are suitable for modern multi-carrier broadband systems, and the base band digital domain signal processing algorithm has high performance, which can achieve good linearization effects.

OFDM is a wave modulation technology. OFDM has been widely used in broadband data communication systems in broadcast channel mode, such as digital audio television (DAB), high-definition digital television (HDTV) and IEEE802.11a and IEEE802.16a wireless local area network standards (WLAN). In particular, the currently popular SDR system requires a broadband linear power amplifier. OFDM will be one of the hot spots in the research of air interface technology in the next generation of mobile wireless systems.
